Flexible pin placement can be key to running your hole in one event and so here’s UK Hole In One’s guide to flexible pin placement. In order for your UK Hole In One insurance policy to be valid, it is important that the length of the hole in one hole is set out correctly. The following gives options for rotation of pin placement on the green so that the hole is set to the correct length.
If the pin is forward of the centre of the green then the hole must be laid out so that the minimum distance from the teeing area to the centre of the green (both ladies’ and men’s tees) is no shorter than that stated on your UK Hole In One policy schedule. The diagram below illustrates forward of centre pin placement.
If the pin is behind the centre line of the green then the teeing position can be moved forward provided that the distance from the teeing area to the pin (both ladies’ and men’s tees) is no shorter than that stated on your UK Hole In One insurance policy schedule. The diagram below illustrates rear of centre pin placement.
Ancillary prizes – such as cash or other smaller prizes – can be offered on the other par 3 holes and are a good way of making your hole in one event more fun and these can be played from the normal teeing areas. If temporary teeing areas are in use because of weather conditions, ground conditions or maintenance work then these are acceptable providing they are not on the hole in one hole itself. They must not, however, be deliberately placed to make the hole easier to play.
The pin on any par 3 hole must not be positioned in a groove or valley of a target green to deliberately encourage the path of the ball towards the hole. Such actions could invalidate your UK Hole In One.com policy.
